Shaun Morrison

Director/Instructor

I am so excited to be stepping into El Faro! I have had a desire to create a resource for Homeschoolers for many years, ever since my own children graduated from their homeschooling journey. It was so hard for me to end something that I felt was such a deep part of how I formed my life and how we defined our family.

I have such a desire to to encourage, support and fight for the homeschooling family! I feel that those who choose to home-educate are the most courageous, committed and passionate people on the planet. Now that, that part of my journey is over, I want to support you.

El Faro has been created to serve you, to offer classes and programs that can support your families learning journey.  Our aim is to offer courses age 6-18 and to any parent who would like to step in!

I am excited for the future, to expand into offering departmental exams, with our University Prep (for those who choose that route), a Debate Class, as well as a Film Making Department! There are so many routes to get to where you are called and we would love to be a step to help your family get there.

My experiences that I am sharing with El Faro are: Directing small and large cast Musicals, Creating Programs, Church Planting, Pastoring, Counselling, Teaching, Composing, and above all Homeschool Mothering

Jaala Morrison

Music Teacher/ Choreographer/Instructor/

Dance Teacher

My heart has always been passionate for people.  I feel that God  has called me to teach and raise up the next generation, as well as learn from them.

The heart of El Faro is to bring back the stronghold of parents and their powerful impact on their children's life. I love that at El Faro we teach for knowledge not just cramming for a grade, but to actually know, discuss, challenge what you are learning.

My love for Homeschooling started when my mother brought me home from school  in grade 2.  Homeschooling opened my eyes to my love of nature and my heart for animals.  It has also allowed me to explore areas more deeply such as;  the sciences and studies in Natural health. I truly loved the subjects that my Mother taught me!  I also had the freedom to become a dancer full time and take on music, in the way that I liked.

Being Homeschooled opened my world to everything that God has called me to do and be.  I am able to see the world not as the system has taught, but as God wants me to see it.

I am a free and critical thinker and lover of many things that I think I would not have explored had I not been educated at home.

I am so very excited to share what I love with other free, and brilliant thinkers.

Hello! My Name is Holly Earle and I live out by Sundre. I Homeschooled my four children for four years during elementary and Jr. high. I loved the flexibility and freedom that is found in creating your own family rhythm.
I am a worship leader, a director, and a person who works closely with individuals and family to assist them with gaining and maintaining good mental health. I am starting my Masters in Counselling this fall.

Benjamin Werdal

Mathematics/Geography/ Bible/ Instructor

Hello everyone!

My name is Ben Werdal, my wife and I currently live in Didsbury, Alberta, and I am so excited to be joining the El Faro team.

Teaching and youth ministry are both very large pieces of who I am. As a camp director, someone who has helped in education and in youth groups, and who has a passion for math, geography, hockey and the Bible, I am stoked to combine all these things and be able to invest in the students and families at El Faro. I am also thankful for my years at Millar College of the Bible and the preparation that has provided me with. I have a Bachelor of Biblical Studies and have gathered many life lessons and grown immensely in my faith through my classes and my mentors at the school.

I myself was homeschooled for roughly 10 years of my life and I was impacted so greatly by the uniqueness in our education, and the special things that it allowed our family to be able to do. I want to be able to assist other homeschool families in this and be part of a team which helps parents to do this well, and to allow other kids and teens to have a similar experience as I did.

As mentioned earlier, youth ministry is a large part of who I am, and I also love to teach and to be a mentor for others. I will be providing classes mostly related to mathematics, the Bible, and life skills but also may include classes relating to some of my other passions such as, geography, the outdoors, hockey, and so on. I am so excited for this chance to be able to serve you all, as homeschoolers, and to explore learning, build relationships, and study God's Word together!
