Everyday Math: Levels B&C

Service Description

What is the number one question that students have regarding math? “When am I going to use this in real life?” Well we are going to answer that question in this class. In this level B & C course, class times will largely consist of instruction on how to complete, and the purpose of, a real world project that many everyday people use regularly in their lives. These concepts and teaching times will be focused on how to do the math, instructions on the assignment, and possibly going over completed assignments. The projects themselves will then be done by the student at home as they do ‘everyday life’. The Plan: Each day there will be different skills offered, and instruction given on how to use those skills. We have a total of 6 lesson times, and 4 projects to complete, using the following skills. Cooking/Baking Construction Shopping Budgetting Students will be assigned one project each of the first two weeks. Then, the third week will be used to answer any questions that they have about those concepts. The same pattern will be used for the second set of three weeks. Objectives: The goal of this course is to answer the question of “What is the point of math?” As well as equipping students to be able to accurately, and confidently use these everyday skills.
