Service Description

This course is designed to explore a wide variety of concepts suited to Level A learners, either as an introduction to an idea, or as a way to build on a foundation which has already been built. Your child is welcome to attend whether they are refreshing themselves on these skills and seeking new strategies, or if they are entirely new to the concept! Note: Your child would likely benefit in taking the ‘Math Foundations: Level A’ course before this one, though it is not required if you are not able or do not wish to do so. Each day there will be different skills offered. Which concepts are covered and focussed on will be dependent on students, how they are understanding, and what you as parents/guardians would like to be taught. If you could leave a note in your registration form under ‘other comments’ outlining areas you would like focussed on, or other thoughts, that would be great! The Plan: Here is a list of concepts we could cover with your child during these classes: Place Values; Reading a clock; Introducing multiplication (1 digit); Multiplication (2+ digits); Area and Perimeter of squares and rectangles; Division; Understanding fractions; Simple fraction equations; A review and a culminative project or assignment. Or for those who are wanting to be pushed, we may also include concepts such as: An introduction to algebra; Mixed numbers and improper fractions; Decimals; Area of shapes other than a rectangle Objectives: The goal of this course will be to explore a variety of common math practices and concepts and properly arm students with knowledge in how to approach each one. We also aim to supply resources which help students to remember concepts, hopefully also providing parents/guardians with assistance if they continue exploring said concepts at home. In the end we hope that each individual will have a reasonable grasp of the ideas we covered, with them specifically, through participating during teaching, worksheets sent home, and a final project or assignment. If you have any questions about the course, please do not hesitate to contact Ben at, ben@elfaro.ca, or to contact the school directly see the contact details below! _________________________________________________________ Nov. 17th - Jan. 12th: 7 Sessions Nov. 17th, 12:55-1:55 Nov. 24th, 12:55-1:55 Dec. 1st, 12:55-1:55 Dec. 8th, 12:55-1:55 Dec. 15th, 12:55-1:55 Jan. 5th, 12:55-1:55 Jan. 12th, 12:55-1:55
