Life after Graduation: Level C

Graduation! You are reaching the end of your high school journey! It’s exciting, but it can also be quite daunting. This course is designed for students who are approaching graduation and are preparing for their next steps in life, or who have recently graduated and feel like they need this sort of thing. This course is meant to begin to prepare students for life in whatever context that may look like after grad. Post-secondary education, moving away from home, joining the work-force, ministry, Bible College, you name it. I want to tailor this course to the needs and situations of the students who are attending, making it as applicable and real as possible. We will be doing this using real life practical examples and strategies, some other resources, and ultimately, the Bible. The Plan: We plan on using the book, ‘Stepping out on Your Own: Devotions for High School Graduates’ by Kara Lassen Oliver as a resource in this course. Encouraging students to be intentional in reading the wisdom other Godly people in the same situation have said as they took the same steps. And of course we will also be diving into the wisdom and truth of the Bible, as well as exploring life examples, struggles, decisions and other things these students may face in their unique scenarios. There will also be opportunities for students to ask questions about their faith as they prepare to step out on their own as adults and truly take ownership of it. Objectives: The goal of this course is to provide a place where graduating students can prepare for life after grad. Whether that is through new resources, making friends, discussing topics on their mind, growing in their faith, or something else entirely. This will have a couple small assignments, but will be a very flexible class, designed for and by the students to a point, and very discussion based.
